What happens in a service?

It can be awkward going to a new church and not knowing what might be expected of you! Here’s what we do each week when we meet together. We meet Sunday’s at 10am in the auditorium (once a month we have a night service at 6pm - check out our Facebook page for details).

If you’re new, one of our greeters can introduce you to someone and help you to find a seat. We usually stand and sing a couple of worship songs, before the preacher gets up to speak for about 20 minutes.

The preacher then leads us into a time of Communion (Matthew 26:26-28) - where believers eat and drink the body and blood of Christ (crackers and juice). When you walk into the church, the greeters will offer you the Communion elements (which is optional to partake in) for you to open as the preacher leads.

We then go back into a time of worship, standing and singing a few more songs together led by a music leader. All of this goes for about 45 minutes to an hour.

Then we move into the lounge/dining area where we enjoy morning tea and have a cuppa together (once a month we also have a lunchtime following this).

What if we don’t agree on theology?

If you’re not a Christian, or if you don’t agree with all of our theology, we still hope that you will feel welcome within our community. It’s not reasonable for us to assume that we will agree on everything theologically, but we strive to preach a simple message; that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour, that He died on the cross, that He was buried for 3 days and that He rose again, conquering sin and death. Now all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13) by receiving the free gift of salvation. We are saved by faith through grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

We won’t be changing our message, but we want you to feel safe and welcome to come as you are and to be embraced by our community regardless of where you’re at in your faith journey.

Will my kids enjoy church?

We want your children to know Jesus. Not just to know about Him, but to walk with Him. We hope that they come to understand that Christianity isn’t an empty religion, but that it’s all about relationship with the person of Jesus.

We don’t have a kids church or a youth group at the moment, because we believe that there is something powerful found when the generations stay together. We become like a tribe, like a family.

We want our kids to have the experience of staying in the service with their parents and watching them worship and listen to the Word of God. This is why we keep our services short, usually just under an hour.

There are toys to play with, and a room with colouring-in at the back of the auditorium for kids to come and go from during the service. We love the sounds of kids playing and babies fussing while we are together, it reminds us that we are one big family!

How are decisions made?

The Senior Pastor, currently Sophie Camac, appoints a Governance Team to support her in the leadership of the church. This is where all major decisions are discussed regarding church finances, community engagement and pastoral care. All decisions are thoughtfully considered and are either approved, put on hold, or rejected. We work as a body, and if there are any ideas or concerns that a member of the congregation has, they can raise them with the Governance Team to be addressed.

The Senior Pastor also sits under the authority of her Network Leaders (of the Acts Global Movement) who are currently Pastors Dale and Karen Hewitt of Dreambuilders Church in Melbourne. They help to guide and further equip Sophie in her leadership role within the congregation.
